(Mahurangi) Wellsford to Takapuna to be more accurate is part of that claim see Restoration notice to United Nations – TeManawa

This is how I received the name Hawaiiki rangi . After weekends of wananga with a Maniapoto elder and one of the eldest kaumatua to the Sullivan clan taught me this legend of the land I grew up on at Mahurangi. (See Sullivans Bay)
Hawaiiki rangi was from Taranaki. One day she was traveling to a friend who was hapu (Pregnant) having been asked to be present for the pepe’s (Baby’s) arrival. On the way she was kidnapped by soldiers who marched her along with other captives up to Auckland. She managed to escape once but was tracked down and caught again before they arrived in Auckland and taken to an Island where the captives were held in preparation for shipping as slaves.
A Northern chief hearing of this sent waka down to rescue the captives, this was successful. The Northern Chief hearing who Hawaiiki rangi was (A chieftains daughter) gifted the lands from Wellsford through Mahurangi right down to Takapuna to her and thus it is her name that the elder gifted to me on that wananga along with a white limestone (you shall have a new name written in white stone)
(Mahurangi-chieftainess who designed the Tainui canoe in Hawaiiki)
The stone for TeManawa (The Heart) was received in Te Mata (The Face), It is a white stone shaped in a perfect heart.
There is also two sisters (Chiefs daughters) that were married up North as part of the whakapapa but that is a different story for another time.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11501454 As always piggy in the middle! So now you are fighting over a large track of Sullivan lands. What I want to know is when are you all going to start giving back instead of taking. Neither of you can take what is not yours. I whakapapa to both tribes, (Reitu and Reipae) Nga Puhi Your own Elder Pereme Porter walked with me on it. Tainui well you know who I am) The Sullivan lands is Wellsford to Takapuna, hapu lands that both iwi have ties too along with Taranaki. Three kuia’s gave the mandate of this land being returned over to me for the hapu’s well being. The mandate to unite the tribes also came from Kuia and Kaumatua along the journey.
So now there is going to be a fight over what is given to me again. When is the in fighting going to stop and the unity going to start. Treading on the Tupuna’s toes, where is the respect, where is the honer, where is the humbleness. Finally where is the acknowledgement of the living movement of wairua and its sacredness. When did being Maori stop being this and start being something else altogether!
The Maori King is following the Restoration and opening the way. Leave him be. He is ill and doing the best he can. He has started the unity opening the way there also.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/politics/news/article.cfm?c_id=280&objectid=11502296 Following the Restoration opening the way thank you for doing this. Thank you so much – TeManawa
Every complains no one gives credit where it is due. He does what is for the future and in doing so opening the way for the Restoration and my succession. Tuheitia is very ill and I for one will not accept anyone hurting him. When people do what is right that needs to be supported not challenged. Sovereignty is the bigger picture. Without that forget what land is owned by who – it will all be gone!
Stop fighting each other, the fight is out there against those that will take everything from Maori given half a chance.
As for the Sullivan land it is in the Restoration. Tuheitia knows that, he is giving back by opening the way and I for one thank him for that. Let this man have some peace. Honor him by supporting what he is doing to open the way for unity of the tribes in the future, which will come. He knows that will not always lay with him. Do you not think that is enough to have on his shoulders without calling him names. Enough I say, enough. You are breaking my heart.
