Rewi, warrior chief listened to Governor Sir George Grey as they stood together on the 28 June 1878 at Waitara. Rewi was the last elder chief of the Ngati Maniapoto of Ngati Raukawa and a great leader of the Maori people. Custodian of harmony between European and Maori.
