As I witness those events known, expected, and arriving world-wide I, like all around the globe, send Japan heartfelt condolences on the devastating rampage of this latest earthquake.ย As those in Japan wake to the day of aftermath due to this event, it has traveled around the globe and been met by every nations people upon their wakening.
In these times this is what brings the worlds people together. Youย are not alone the message sent back to your people from around the globe. We will do everything we can to aid your country and people in their time of need spoken from every part of the world.
How united we stand in the face of such disasters. How strong the aroha (love)ย in these moments.ย How grand the spirit of humanity with the cause to effect aid in the wake of such calamity.ย And once again how brave a nation and it’s people dealing with such disaster.
My thoughts and heart go out to you all as you walk the coming months of recovery and cope from the loss incurred.
I want to say to you never give into despair. Continue to walk ahead brave and look always to the good that shall arise from such circumstances. Each nation unique, special, and necessary to colour our world that we may appreciate each other.
Please accept from those in our world the blessings of aroha as we unite in this recovery process knowing you are appreciated for all you have done for us in Aotearoa at such a time of our nations earthquake in Christchurch. No one can imagine the circumstances of rearing special needs children unless doing so. The slightest change can set them off and the focus is normally on the children not the parents well-being.
These parents are the silent hero’s in this situation bearing the brunt of constant chatter until there is almost no room left for a single thought, sleepless nights, a house that looks like a tornado just went through it daily and so much more.
Imagine living under the strain of constant demands in every aspect of ones life knowing it’s not going to go away and at the end of the day it’s all up to you. Yes very exhausting.
Functioning as a normal adult becomes difficult to do when exhaustion sets in and it’s too bad because one simply must find that extra reserve of energy. Respite whats that? Time to do adults things that don’tย get done when you’re the caregiver – such as trips to the dentist. There is not a lot of fun happening; simply care giving, cleaning, schooling in many cases, driving all over the city to appointments and filling out endless forms for the various agencies and so forth just to name a few.
There is all to often not enough support and while society expects these parents to be as well and do as well as most they do so much more than most without as much rest as most – it’s unrealistic.
Certainly the life these parents knew before special needs came along, the things they use to have and do have gone out the door.ย This group lives a war zone style of existence which can seem unrelenting and they are often forgotten in so many ways just as the condition/s are not easily understood or accepted by main stream society in everyday life. There is no wheel chair, walking stick, guide dog, and so on.
Now add Christchurch.
To the special needs families and children, you have been on my mind and in my heart. I am ringing around to check on what is being done for you so I will do what I can from here. In the mean time this is not a time to go it alone so if you need extra help speak up, tell people and tell them what you need beyond what is already being done. I know the health services are on site and you are all helping each other but I am also fully aware of just how overwhelming taking care of these special kids is 24/7.
This whole situation is beyond the limits of overwhelming and yet the people of Christchurch and their helpers are all so inspiring, so very brave and so very much making us proud. ย That we get to see what it means to be a kiwi when it comes at such a high price is so very sad. So many hero’s seen by the world, so many unseen. So Mum’s and Dad’s of these special kids this is your moment to be recognised for the hero’s you have always been and to say to you there are people here who know it.
I have spoken to Variety this morning and its good news as my contact had just come out of a meeting dealing with the very issues I had pondered over the last few daysย – so things are under way. I wont stop and have made other calls.
Having an Aspergers, ADHDย child I had thought; what would I (hope) do in earthquake circumstances due to his needs? It’s just a thought but I hope the following helps.
Firstly I would go straight back to basics. I would slow my words right down, Use few and simple instructions, apply hand signals for visual effect, and here is hoping stay calm on the outside.
Once I knew we were safe, using part of the condition I know always gives me the space to process and my son the space to go to where he feels safe when stressed, I would create what he calls “a safe space” for him. This is often a small, quite, darkened not dark space, to go into. I know that seems strange given Earthquake but to these kids its simply security. Yes I would find what ever I could to create this space. The next best thing is being snuggled in a blanket which by now you will we assume all have.
Another thing these children like to do when insecure is play animal such as acting like cats and dogs. I would use anything I could find to make him a tail or ears, even a fur like body (Blanket). Once I knew my son was inside the space happily making his cat sounds, or dog sounds, and playing like this I know (A) he is diverted, (B) where he is and likely to stay. All this giving me time to get my bearings and think about what to do next.

Every person in our country has been touched by the earthquake February 22nd in Christchurch. We will never be the same again from the events of this day and those following.ย The response of the Nation immediate, the world quickly following.
When alerts went out by cell phones, phone calls, Radio or Television our countries people began the vigil to an event that has rocked us to our very core. As surely as the images of devastation lay before our eyes instantly the images opened our hearts to beat with your rhythm Christchurch,ย to beat with your losses, and your victories as we hold vigil.
I have not heard finer words, nor seen greater deeds, than those over the last few days. Love withย no boundaries took full flight in a graceful flow of practical, dignified, and constructive, strokes on the journey to bring you the people of Christchurch, our people, all that is possible.
To the families who have lost loved ones in the greatest loss that shall come out of these events my heartfelt condolences and hope that what we do brings you a measure of comfort and peace in the time ahead. My sincere wish that in time the wounds of your hearts shall stop bleeding and you shall become strong again to go on and live life well.

While the world celebrates the liberation of the Egyptian people by the Egyptian people from autocratic rule, in democracy to be a true example we need to follow through with the indigenous people’s of the globe. These people have been suppressed by colonisation and their fight for liberty has been an ongoing event that while descendents have been caught up in the ongoing confrontation of this truth the indigenous people’s around the globe know they have stood in truth and it must now be seen that their stance is no less than those of the people of Egypt.
Liberty is the greatest gift we can bring to one another for it is the gift of greatest good and greatest love. If we are to honor democracy it needs to be in the absolute truth and not in the guise of “What does this mean for me?” and I will honor liberty to a point. Honor is truth in the moment and in this moment truth is glaringly conspicuous in the world. To lead in democracy is to allow liberty for all including the indigenous of this world. It is not to ignore the suppression of indigenous people’s but to place once and for all truth in acknowledging that the process of colonisation is nothing more than autocratic process where self-justification has ruled where slavery, genocide of nations and hardship has been placed to further the cause of those power mongering to rule the world or a Nation. Our greatest lesson not to become as our suppressors.
The world is ruled by the people, it is the people who make up the world and time for all to appreciate the differing cultures as holding worth in this world and because it is different realising it is not a threat but a diversification that brings with it a beauty that grows thought and the world.
It is time for the world to hold appreciation for all in the world and get over eliminating what it does not understand through ignorance and fear. Positive thought of others and not fear mongering needs to reign now or we are all doomed to suppress others and cause hardship where beauty is planted.
Standing sentinel over the land and it’s people, the Sphinx looks towards the first time. It is only proper thatย the shores of the first time respond to the great events of today as Egypt marks it in history not only as the day when the people won their freedom but as the first day in which the message of liberty, freedom, and peaceful ways went out to all countries and leaders. Liberty and freedom for all through unity andย peace shall be the way of the world. Truly this is the beginning as seeds of right thought, right word, right deed have at last sprouted, and the people not only of Egypt but of the world are listening.
The power of the people brings this to the world and it’s message is resounding around the globe. How true we the people make the world the way we wish it and those in power given that authority to govern their people and lands have heard today a nation who united to speak up and say we demand liberty and to forge our nation into a thing of beauty for our children and children’s, children. We will not live with lack of fairness.

As Mother of the Nations; conferred November 2007, Te Manawa said, all my days and nights fill with the care of a special needs child which I liken to my dedication and protection gifted to the people over the last fourteen years. In this my mandate is to spiritually protect the people from threat and harm and to secure the best path to peace and unity that is theirs to have, especially when the past results of others has split the tribes and segregated people. It is under this umbrella I may enter the arena and intervene should the Iwi and its people experience in real terms any threat to their well-being.
Due to the power play that accompanies politics Te Manawa is no innocent to attacks in all forms experiencing death threats, manipulation, and intimidation first hand she says when people resort to this method of leadership it is plain they are in a power play and not truth. Still recovering from an abhorrent form of spiritual attack in June of this year which left Te Manawa with injury to her shoulder she says when man believes he has power over truth we have entered those forces where only despair, falsity, and upheaval is found. The truth will always emerge and covering up the truth will only lead to eventual discovery and further distress of the people. I have never supported or followed that which hurts or is not good for and to the people.
Te Manawa calls for truth from those in authority asking for honor, integrity, and good choice which she says has been greatly missing these last years with little more than consistent bad media as the example of form. At the very least those in roles of leadership must be resolute to truth, integrity, and purity which must reign and be the attempt of all involved. Te Manawa says truth is the greatest heading on any navigational chart.
She reminds us all that people make choices and with every choice made comes a result. It is important that all those making decision’s on behalf of the tribe be held accountable for those they have made. Scapegoats will not heal nor cure what has happened.
This matter has been on going for the last few years and requires the proper resolution. The buck stops at the top and it is the top who must make decisions founded in the very best interests of the people. Listening to and following poor advice is still a poor form of leadership. Tainui must turn towards a true vision and those who set the course need to steer the waka on the path of this vision as a united crew.
Te Manawa says, It is time for Tainui to have that which it is due, stability and unity and closed by saying, it is not politics that shall save the day, reminding the people who the wealth of any nation is – the people. Any leader worth their salt and holding themselves to true service to the people has this at the very forefront of their thoughts, words and deeds.
The Kingitanga is a spiritual document which is waiting restoration not further dismantling by those who would serve themselves before up holding the covenant and serving the people. What is set here is set for the world and as such has been far less than intended when manipulated by those in power with a different agenda. It is little wonder at the results and a personal disappointment to Te Manawa to see her people hurt in this way.
Let me be very clear, I have no want to destroy te Arta’s legacy, she knew her authority and it was real as I know my own and I stand in my own birth right. It is not myself who has failed God and the tupuna Honor is truth in the moment. When one steals from God and breaks covenant one is dancing with the Devil and more than one covenant with God has been broken by Maoridom.
Finally Te Manawa said “I am a firm believer in keeping things in-house, our business being simply that our business, yet I find myself in the place of understanding that to remain silent or silenced is to forever fail the people and God. It is the cause of great distress on those it targets when they need clarity to be focused on more important causes than voice of those secure in their easy chairs, so quick to express condemnation, so slow to fill the shoes of the brave.

Sorrow and heartache now fully replacing the hope and prayer for a miracle blows stronglyย upon the winds of today as we say goodbye to 29 men lost in the Pike mine on the West Coast of Aotearoa and lost to those that loved them. As a nation touched by this loss we have felt as one people and while we can not take the pain from those most effected we do share it .
Shoulder to shoulder the families, and those on the front line has striven to secure a return to the surface of these men alive. It has been a time of most difficult choices, a time when those on the front line faced the greatest of trials. A time when all within our shores and even beyond stilled to focus on securing a good outcome.
Shoulder to shoulder people have risen to the occasion doing their utmost to see these men returned safely to us. Brave heroes each and everyone. Sadly now their desire remains the same but the circumstances has changed to that of recovery and I pray for the families that this be completed soonest and safely knowing that every moment is agony until these men find their way home for their final goodbye.
Fellow New Zealanders for theseย brave heroes we must continue standing shoulder to shoulder as one in support of those most touched by this event, never faltering in our support, never forgetting the simplest acts of kindness and love can live withinย people’s hearts forever.
Today we can remember in the darkest moments of the past few days our hearts were lit the brightest. Dimmed by the news of our loss as a nation we must remember those closest to these 29 have lost the lights in their lives where none but those who have been lost to them shines.
In my condolences to the families and loved ones of these 29 men know they now shine in the hearts of our nations people always. Having brought us together as one heart they shall be remembered as those who drew the very best of us out into the light of day to shine as a ย nation united.
